Ahead of Memorial Day, W-S-V-A remembers two Harrisonburg veterans who were lost this week.

According to obituaries, Friendly City native Weldon “Wayne” Washington passed away at his home earlier this week. Washington was a Navy veteran, serving on the U-S-S Hancock during the Vietnam War. He would come back home to the Valley where he retired as a pest control technician.

Costendenos Nicklas Katsorelos, known to the community as “Deno,” also passed away on Monday. The 90-year-old Harrisonburg native was a U-S Army veteran, later retiring from a career at the Harrisonburg Post Office.
