HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Rocktown High School athletic program has been identified by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association as a 2025 recipient of the NIAAA Quality Program – Recognition at the Exemplary Level. The recognition is given to programs for implementing and supporting an outstanding athletic department with a commitment to continuous program improvement.
To be recognized as a Quality Program Exemplary High School, an athletic administrator must present evidence of existing policies, practices, and procedures that meet criteria within the ten Quality Program assessment categories: Philosophy, Educational Compatibility, Mentoring, Safety & Risk Management, Access and Equity, Budget and Supplemental Fundraising, Personnel & Program Assessment, Technology, Sports Medicine, and Innovation and Creative Leadership Strategies.
The Harrisonburg City School Board will recognize the achievement at its September 2 meeting. The NIAAA will present the Quality Program Recognition during a recognition ceremony on December 15, 2025.
