HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg Police are mourning the loss of a retired K9.
HPD made the announcement Tuesday morning that K9 Doerak passed away at the age of 14 on Friday.
Officials say Doerak and his handler, retired K9 officer Tim Wright, were paired together in 2014 and quickly became a reliable resource for local law enforcement agencies. Throughout his career, Doerak, a Belgian Malinois, was directly responsible for 192 arrests, $31,900 in seized drug funds, over 300 drug detection deployments, and 11 evidence searches. Doerak and K9 Officer Wright retired in 2020 and got to enjoy retirement together until Doerak’s passing.
HPD says they’re extremely grateful for Doerak’s years of service to the community and to keep retired K9 Officer Tim Wright and his family in your thoughts.
