HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg City Public Schools is warning residents of an unofficial flier circulated at Monday night’s Open House events.
According to a statement, officials say individuals distributed fliers that made misleading claims regarding the quality of education in the city and included an inaccurate school calendar.
The release responds to the flier without directly quoting its content, explaining that raw state testing data includes scores from students still learning English and mid-year transfer students that are not used in accountability determinations.
When Virginia accounts for those factors, officials say City schools perform “respectably.”
Residents can find the official academic calendar at the division’s website.
