DAYTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — An area church is celebrating 150 years in Rockingham County.

Mount Horeb United Methodist Church in Dayton will hold their 150th Homecoming Celebration, Sunday, August 10th.

In 1875, a growing United Brethren congregation decided to leave a group of churches sharing the Trinity Church and School to build their own building in the Hinton area of Western Rockingham County.

The plan came to fruition when the Mount Horeb Congregation held a special dedication service August 8th of that year.

This Sunday’s commemoration begins at 10:45am.
