Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a state trooper Saturday night in Augusta County.
Spokesperson Corrine Geller said the incident began when a driver reported his vehicle had been shot at while traveling south on I-81 in Shenandoah County.
As the suspect vehicle crossed into Augusta County, a trooper pulled out from an emergency crossover to assist another trooper with a traffic stop. His cruiser collided with a 2020 Kia Sorento. The trooper, as well as the driver and passenger in the Kia were taken to Augusta Health for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
Meanwhile, Geller says the first trooper was able to stop and search the suspect vehicle. No weapon was located and the driver was released.
