HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg man who was arrested in connection with an animal cruelty case appeared in court on Tuesday.

David Joseph Ligouri faces three charges, including animal cruelty as well as hit-and-run.

According to online records, a judge set a new hearing date of June 17th in general district court to see if Ligouri has hired an attorney.

On April 18th, Harrisonburg Police officers responded to Lowe’s on Linda Lane for a hit-and-run incident involving a dog.

The next day, HPD says they received reports of a social media post detailing an act of animal cruelty related to the same incident. Liguori was then identified as the suspect, and he was arrested last week without incident.

The dog, named Ralphie, remains at the Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA.
