The City of Staunton has once again been named a Tree City U-S-A by the Arbor Day Foundation. It is the 27th year that Staunton has earned the award.

City Horticulturist Matt Sensabaugh explains that Staunton has a unique link to Arbor Day dating back to 1889 when there was a tree-planting event at Gypsy Hill Park.

Staunton will hold its annual Arbor Day celebration this year on Friday, April 28th.

Before that, City Council will present a proclamation celebrating Arbor Day at its April 20th meeting.
