AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – An Augusta County school claims the top spot in an area environmental science competition.
Fort Defiance High School announced over Facebook that their Envirothon team beat out other high schools in the area to place 1st in yesterday’s local-level competition.
Envirothon is a team-based natural resources competition, teaching Virginia’s high school students’ stewardship and management of aquatics, forestry, soils, and wildlife.
Teams of five are created through school clubs, classes, home school groups, 4-H groups, scout troops, and local nature centers.
Fort Defiance’s winning team now moves on to compete in the area-level competition.
