PENN LAIRD VA (ROCKTOWN NOW) -The Spotswood Trail Blazers are headed to the three, a state tournament in both boys and girls’ basketball with victories on Wednesday night.  In the boy’s game, Spotswood ran away from the Staunton High School Storm, in the second half as they won 79 to 61. It was just a 33 to 28 blazer advantage at halftime before the lead expanded to 11 at the end of the third quarter. 22 was the largest lead of the night. Spotswood will travel to top seeded Western Albemarle on Friday for the regional championship. In the girl’s game, the Trail Blazers defeated the Broadway High School Gobblers 55 to 46. The Blazers scored the 1st 10 points of the game and the Gobblers would get no closer than 4 the rest of the way. With the win, the number one seeded Blazers. Will host the number 2 seeded Western Albemarle High School Warriors in the regional championship on Friday as the Warriors defeated the East Rockingham High School Eagles 46 to 39 in overtime.
