(JMU Athletics) – James Madison lacrosse junior attacker Maddie Epke has been named the ILWomen Player of the Week, the outlet announced on Wednesday. The honor comes on the heels of an American Athletic Conference Weekly honor for Epke, as she was named Attacker of the Week by the league on Monday.

Epke was instrumental in JMU’s 2-0 week, leading a comeback 15-11 win over Virginia Tech in Blacksburg and an 11-8 win over UConn at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md.

Against the Hokies, Epke recorded a team-best six goals while dishing out a game-best three assists to finish with a career-high nine points and 14 draw controls. The native of Guilford, Conn. followed up that performance scoring four goals on six shots against UConn. Epke is currently tied for first in the conference and 17th in the country in draw controls per game (7.67).

The No.18 Dukes resume game action next Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. when they welcome No. 20 Richmond to Sentara Park for the home opener.
