WOODSTOCK VA:  (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A 17-year-old male is facing multiple charges, including murder, following a violent incident in Woodstock early Friday morning that resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to a man.

Woodstock police responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on W. North Street shortly before 4:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims in the front yard. Jocelyn Hicks, 32, had suffered a stab wound and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Kevin Miller, 29, was being treated for both a gunshot wound and a stab wound.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived but was later apprehended in Warren County after a call about a suspicious person and a vehicle fire. The suspect sustained injuries in the fire and was transported to a Washington, D.C. hospital for treatment.

Authorities have charged the juvenile with murder, attempted murder, aggravated malicious wounding, shooting during the commission of a felony, and use or display of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently awaiting extradition to Virginia.

Police have assured the community that this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
