AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — This past weekend was the final time that Major Brian Jenkins put on his Augusta County Sheriff’s uniform.

Jenkins retired after 30 years of service.

In a social media post, Sheriff Donald Smith said the following:
Major Jenkins of the ACSO is retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. Please take a minute over this holiday weekend to show your appreciation for his commitment to making the Sheriff’s Office and our community safer. Happy retirement Major Jenkins! We congratulate you on a job well done.
Attention all units, Major Brian Jenkins, Augusta County Sheriff’s Office unit 384, is marking off for the final time. Major Jenkins begins his retirement after 30 years of service in Law Enforcement. Major Jenkins started his career in law enforcement working at the Waynesboro Police Department in 1994, and later joined the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office. Major Jenkins worked on Patrol as a slick-sleeved Deputy, then supervision, before transferring to the Criminal Investigation’s Division. Major Jenkins rose through the ranks as a Patrol Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. He is a graduate of the Virginia Department of Forensic Science Academy, well known for his crime scene processing skills, and expert knowledge of evidence and evidence packaging. Brian and his teammates have been an integral part of solving and bringing justice to no less than 35 homicide victims and their families throughout his career.
In 2018, Major Jenkins was appointed as the Chief Deputy where he finishes out his career. He has been very dedicated and loyal to our agency and provided insight to every rank and division that makes up the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office. throughout his career, Major Jenkins has mentored many of our current deputies, supervisors, and administrators. We have often looked up to Major Jenkins as a positive role model. His dedication, service, and commitment to the citizens of Augusta County is honorable. “Major,” we wish you many blessings as you start your retirement.
