FISHERSVILLE, VA (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Sheriff Donald Smith says K-9 teams were brought in and no evidence of an explosive material was found at Augusta Health’s main campus Friday evening.  Parts of the hospital were evaluated after a bomb threat was received, according to hospital officials.  In a statement released by the Augusta County Sheriff’s office, Smith says multiple agencies assisted in the search.

“Augusta Health received a bomb threat by phone at approximately 5:10 PM. The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and Augusta County Fire & Rescue responded, established a perimeter, evacuated portions of the building and began searching the hospital for explosive devices.
K-9 teams were brought in from the Virginia State Police, and Albemarle County Police Department to assist with the search. Normal operations at the hospital resumed at 8:01 PM.
There was no explosive material found at Augusta Health.
The ACSO would like to extend our appreciation to the Virginia State Police, Augusta County Fire & Rescue, Virginia Department of Emergency Management, and Albemarle County Police Department for their quick response and assistance.

It has been determined that the call originated from out of state. The investigation is ongoing at this time”.
