According to a news release, the Town’s Industrial Development Authority, which owns the restaurant space at Generations Park, voted unanimously to approve a lease agreement between the IDA and Sakura Bridgewater on July 24.
Sakura will offer Japanese and Asian cuisine including sushi, noodles, and bubble tea. The Bridgewater Sakura will be operated by Zeng Liang Chen, whose family owns and operates Sakura restaurants along the I-81 corridor.
“I’m very impressed with the Bridgewater community and have been looking for a while to open a location here,” Chen said. “Very excited to bring Sakura to Bridgewater!”
Generations Park opened on Thanksgiving Day 2015 as a multipurpose space for the community to enjoy. The park centers on a pavilion that hosts summer concerts and an ice rink in the winter.
It also includes the restaurant space in which Sakura Bridgewater will be located.
“We are very pleased to welcome Sakura, Mr. Chen, and his family to the Bridgewater community,” Gwen Gottfried, the Town’s Economic Development Advisor, said in the release. “We think this will be a great addition to our business district.”
According to the release, Chen plans to open Sakura Bridgewater this fall in advance of the Town’s 2024-25 ice skating season, which begins on Thanksgiving Day.
