The survey got more than 23-hundred responses, which were presented at Monday night’s school board meeting. According to School Superintendent Dr. Larry Shifflett, the community noted school safety and academic excellence as the division’s highest priorities.

The resolution recognizes the rights of school employees to organize, form, join or assist an employee association, as well as to engage in collective bargaining on issues related to wages, hours, benefits, safety, and other employment conditions.

The Virginia Public Access Project reports more than 106,000 Virginians cast ballots in the first two days of early voting, showing an increase of 38 percent from the 2020 election.

Harrisonburg is one of 21 high schools in the Commonwealth to receive the Continuous Improvement Award: Graduation and Completion Index and Dropout Rate.

That included updates on renovation projects at some of the county’s schools, but current projects also showed that a new elementary school and redistricting could be on the table in the coming decades.
