WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — The former employee of a Waynesboro machine shop and her husband were arrested on charges related to an alleged embezzlement scheme.

On March 26th, Captain Benjamin Lemons says Waynesboro authorities were notified that a financial audit at the shop uncovered that a former office manager had allegedly misappropriated business funds.

Investigators found that between February 2025 and February 2026, Linda Lockhart had utilized business funds for unauthorized purposes and had obtained a credit card in the business’s name without the owner’s knowledge.

Lockhart’s husband, Donald Lockhart, was found to have participated in the fraudulent activity.

On June 30th, both suspects turned themselves in.

Linda Lockhart faces 8 Felony Counts of Embezzlement, and Donald Lockhart faces one Felony count of Credit Card Fraud.

Both individuals were released on bond pending an appearance this Thursday in General District Court.
