MOUNT CRAWFORD, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Commonwealth’s Board of Historic Resources approved 15 properties for designation on the Virginia Landmarks Register and one of those is the Mount Crawford Historic District in Rockingham County.
Established in 1825, the Mount Crawford district developed along U-S Route 11 and its proximity to the North River contributed to the growth as a turnpike town and served as an industrial and commercial hub to the surrounding rural area in the 19th and 20th centuries.
The approval of these properties for designation on the Virginia Landmarks Register came last Thursday, June 18, 2026, during the Board of Historic Resources quarterly public in Richmond.
