LOUISVILLE, Ky. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison softball standouts Kendra Lewis and Payton List earned NFCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team honors after putting together impressive seasons in the Sun Belt Conference this spring.

In her first season with the Dukes, Lewis quickly established herself as one of the top hitters in the conference. The junior earned First Team All-Conference honors after a dominant season at the plate, finishing with a team-best .408 batting average while appearing in all 48 games for JMU. She totaled 49 hits, including 14 doubles and 10 home runs, while scoring 30 runs and driving in 36 runs.

Lewis was equally effective during Sun Belt play, batting .382 with 26 hits and 22 RBI against conference opponents. She ranked among the conference leaders in several offensive categories, finishing first in batting average while also placing in the top five in slugging percentage and on-base percentage. Her consistency at the plate and ability to produce extra-base hits made her one of the league’s most dangerous offensive threats throughout the season.

Lewis recorded one of the top offensive seasons in program history, sitting No. 6 in single-season batting average (.408) and slugging percentage (.775), while setting the program record with a .520 on-base percentage.

Two-way contributor Payton List also earned All-Region honors after making a major impact both offensively and in the pitching circle. List turned in one of the most complete seasons on the roster, batting .306 overall with 38 hits, 11 home runs, and 40 RBI. Her power at the plate consistently provided a spark for the Dukes’ lineup, as she finished among the team leaders in both home runs and runs batted in.

In the circle, List played a crucial role as one of JMU’s top pitchers throughout the season. She logged 116.2 innings pitched, earning nine victories while striking out 105 batters. Against Sun Belt competition, List continued to stand out offensively, batting .302 with 21 RBI while also serving as a dependable arm for the Dukes’ pitching staff throughout conference play.

She adds this honor to her resume after earning NFCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team honors in 2025 and Third Team recognition in 2024.
