HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — James Madison University today, October 2, announced the establishment of JMU Guarantees.

The initiative reportedly pairs an Employee Guarantee for undergraduate alumni with an Employer Guarantee for the organizations that hire them.

While speaking with reporters, JMU President Jim Schmidt said they have heard for decades about people being curious if going to college has a good return on investment.

“I believe strongly it’s important that higher eds step up and meet that criticism directly,” said President Schmidt. “Listen carefully to what they’re having to say, figure out how best to meet it.”

President Schmidt added that the university can’t do something for the student, but can help identify those opportunities, remove barriers and help better prepare students and graduates for the workplace.
