HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg City Council approved the proposed mosaic design by Scott Supraner for the pumphouse at the Spraygrounds at Ralph Sampson Park during last night’s meeting.

Last fall, Harrisonburg residents Steve and Chris Carpenter offered to provide $100,000 for design and installation of three Spraygrounds public artworks. Two of the three pieces were approved with the last one being the mosaic.

“That talks of the history of the Northeast Neighborhood and of the Harris Pool with that iconic diver,” said Carpenter.

The mosaic takes inspiration from a photo called “Diving into Harris Pool”, which was located in the Northeast Neighborhood.
