TYSONS, Va. (EMU Athletics) – EMU Baseball wrapped up their 2026 season with a Monday night road trip to the heart of Northern Virginia to take on Marymount University at Capital One Park. With the senior class taking their final bow in yesterday’s doubleheader sweep of Averett, Head Coach Adam Posey played a lineup consisting mostly of players returning next season.

The Diamond Royals hung tough early but ultimately fell in their season finale to the Saints by the final tally of 10-3. The 2026 team’s 14 wins are the most in a single season for the Royals since they won 16 times in the 2019 season.

Highlights
• The Royals lit up the scoreboard first when Trevor Gjormand reached base on a throwing error by the Marymount shortstop, allowing Kyler Rodgers to score and put EMU up 1-0. Marymount countered with two runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead, 2-1.
• EMU edged back out front with two runs in the top of the third. Noah Sanderson belted a base hit to center field to send Daniel McGinnis home. Then, for the second time in as many days, the Royals successfully executed a double steal of second and home plate, with Jett Cabanban sliding into home to give EMU the slight lead of 3-2. Marymount answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to tied the game at 3-3 through three innings.
• From there, the host Saints took control of the contest, scoring seven unanswered runs across the final six innings of the game to pull away for the win.

What’s Next
This concludes the 2026 season for EMU Baseball. The Royals graduate six players in the field who saw action in at least 20 games this season, but they also return a good amount of experience for 2027. The 2027 EMU Baseball schedule will be released at a later date.
