AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Augusta County Public Schools (ACPS) announced the appointment of Carrie Barb as Principal of Clymore Elementary School effective July 1, 2026.
According to ACPS officials, Barb began her career in education as a Kindergarten and First Grade Teacher at Stump Elementary School, where she served for twelve years. She would later become the Intervention Specialist at Stump and at the conclusion of the 2012-13 school year, she was named the school’s Teacher of the Year. From 2013-2018, she served as the Assistant Principal at Riverheads Elementary School.
For the past eight years, Barb has led Churchville Elementary School, reportedly garnering the respect and admiration of students, families and staff.
A graduate of Fort Defiance High School, Barb earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Bridgewater College in Elementary Education and Social Work, followed by a Master of Science degree in Administration and Supervision from Shenandoah University.
“Mrs. Barb is a well-respected educator and administrator. She finds joy and optimism in everything she does, and she motivates her teachers and staff to do the same. At Churchville, students and staff are celebrated throughout the year in an environment that is student-centered and family oriented. Mrs. Barb values and facilitates a shared leadership model in which teachers and staff are encouraged to provide input and offer new ideas. She is approachable, maintains an open-door policy, and is highly visible in the school and CHES community. She makes it a priority to interact with students on a daily basis – and she knows each student by name! Her instructional and administrative experiences are extensive, and she supports her fellow elementary principals through her leadership as their Chair. I am very excited for the students, families, and staff of Clymore Elementary School,” says Dr. Kelly Troxell, Division Superintendent.
