STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission (CSPDC) is seeking public input on a proposed housing initiative that would use federal funding to help preserve housing in the Central Shenandoah region.

From August 11 through September 4, 2026, the CSPDC will accept public comments on its proposed Statement of Activities, which will be submitted as a pre-application for Fiscal Year 2026 Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) funding through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The commission is requesting $65,000 in HPG funding to launch the program in the Central Shenandoah region. Virginia has been allocated a total of $167,638 in HPG funding for fiscal year 2026.

The draft Statement of Activities outlines the programming the CSPDC proposes to support with the grant funding and is available for public review during the comment period.

Residents and other interested parties can review the draft document and submit questions or comments through September 4.
