Scheikl posted on his Facebook page Tuesday evening that he is stunned by the county school board’s reported demand that Harrisonburg City School Superintendent Dr. Michael Richards be removed from a leadership role in MTC governance.
Harrisonburg City School Superintendent Dr. Michael Richards reiterated to the committee that despite having fewer students in MTC than the county, state law requires that the governing board remains an equal partnership.
No injuries were reported and Sheriff Lenny Millholland stated that additional charges are being pursued.
If approved, construction could begin in 2029.

The board hopes to finalize the budget sometime next month in time for Harrisonburg City Council’s deadline, which is the end of May.
When it came time to vote for Harrisonburg City School member Andrew Kohen to be voted Vice Chair, a few county board members voted no.
