It was a Masterful performance over the weekend by former James Madison golfer Neal Shipley, who finished play at the 88th Master’s Sunday with the best score by an amateur.
The 2022 J-M-U graduate said during his end-of-tournament press conference that it’s been a roller coaster ride to get to his point.

“It’s been a lot of hard work put into that and you know it’s been a lot of Lowe’s along the journey but I’ve just been really proud of myself with how I’ve kind of rolled up the punches throughout the years and kept working and striving for goals like this and it’s you know seeing all that hard work pay off has been unbelievable”

Shipley finished the Master’s tied for 53rd place. He outshot his childhood idol, Tiger Woods, by four strokes.
