HARRISONBURG, Va – Harrisonburg City Public Schools is considering changing their start times for all schools and adding 30 minutes back into their schedules.
After extended research, a task force found that adding 30 minutes back into the middle and high school schedules would be beneficial for students.
School Board Vice Chair Emma Phillips, who was a member of that task force, said during this week’s work session that she was excited when given the chance to speak about the change.
Meanwhile, the recommended new hours are 7:45 am to 2 pm for elementary schools, 9:05 am to 4 pm for middle schools and 8:25 am to 3:20 pm for high schools.
The board stated that students and parents will be given a chance to share their opinions on the change.
