BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – Nationally recognized Bridgewater College women’s volleyball fell short to Lynchburg in four sets to end their conference undefeated win streak on the season at home Wednesday night.

Score: Lynchburg (LYN) 3, Bridgewater (BC) 1
Records: BC (22-3, 11-1), LYN (23-4, 10-2)

How It Happened
• It was a match of momentum swings and efficiency offensively. The Eagles drew first blood in the opening set with an early 6-2 advantage behind a powerful strike from Maecy Ann Frizzelle. BC stayed in front the rest of the way to start the match building a 17-10 lead late in the set as Sarah Furst put down a hard kill. Reagan Stoop then finalized the first set with a strike of her own to end the set, 25-21.
• In the second set, the Hornets caught fire. BC saw themselves slip into a hole of a six-point deficit to shape the set. The momentum was lost from the first set as LYN took full advantage offensively and never gave up the lead. The Eagles fell behind, 25-15 to end the second set.
• The pace and play sped up in the third set for both sides. Both teams traded side outs for much of the start of the set. Later, LYN pushed past the battling Eagles to take an 18-13 edge. BC struggled to find a consistent rhythm for the rest of the set as the Hornets took command to take a 25-16 third set score.
• The Hornets came out with tough aggressive offensive sequences to find themselves holding an early 4-0 lead in the fourth set. BC could not recover from that point on. Although hustled rallies and late comeback rallies, LYN stayed in control effectively. BC could not climb out of the hole in time before the Hornets went on to close the set for a 25-20 fourth set score.
