LYNCHBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – A score from the Liberty Flames in the 82nd minute was enough to take down James Madison women’s soccer, 1-0, in Lynchburg on Thursday night.

The Dukes (2-4-0) outpaced Liberty in shots (13-11) and finished equal in shots on goal (6-6). JMU’s offense was paced by Ginny Lackey’s four shots, with one being placed on goal. Aleigha Arndt and Samantha DeGuzman each supplied a shot on goal on three shots.

Sofia DeCerb received the start at keeper, playing the entire match and making five saves.

The Flames (6-2-1) were lifted by Halle Engle’s lone goal. Ainsley Leja played all 90 minutes in between the posts, making six saves.

How it Happened
• The JMU attack made noise in the 12th minute, firing a trio of shots that all resulted in saves.
• Liberty logged shots on goal in the 42nd and 45th minutes; however, saves from DeCerb kept the match at a 0-0 stalemate at halftime.
• The Dukes’ first opportunity of the second half came in the 57th minute, sending a pair of shots that were saved.
• Each squad traded shots in the 60th minute; however, both attempts sailed off target.
• The Flames found the scoreboard in the 82nd minute, taking a 1-0 lead and holding on the rest of the way to hand JMU its fourth loss of the season.

Match Notes
• Tonight’s contest marks the 12th all-time meeting between these programs. The result moves JMU’s record to 7-3-2 against the Flames.
• DeCerb’s five saves mark her fourth match this season with five or more stops.
