WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — A week after the Westwood Hills Elementary School shooting, students will not be heading back to class today as originally planned.

Waynesboro Public Schools has announced that the reopening has been indefinitely postponed as school officials consult with local, state, and national partners to develop an appropriate timeline for operations to resume.

Yesterday at Westwood Hills, the division offered a recovery program for staff entitled “A Day of Support, Connection, and Care,” featuring group sessions with licensed mental health professionals from Valley Community Services Board, Victims Crisis Assistance Response, and the Southern Regional Education Board Crisis Network Program.
