HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — This Saturday, August 29, the Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) is joining forces with Mothers Against Drunk Driving Virginia for “Saturation Saturday,” a state and nationwide initiative to fight impaired driving ahead of Labor Day weekend.

Outreach and Communication Specialist Juliana McGrath-Myers said HPD will be increasing their impaired driving traffic safety enforcement efforts to save lives and prevent injuries.

“HPD is one of many police departments throughout Virginia participating in this effort to
protect our community against impaired driving,” said McGrath-Myers.

She continued by saying that in 2025, there were 196 DUI arrests in Harrisonburg.

This coordinated effort reportedly aims to save lives by intensifying impaired driving enforcement during one of the year’s busiest travel periods, in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
