HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Table 1888 officially opened Thursday, August 13, inside Harrisonburg’s historic Joshua Wilton House, bringing a new French-American dining experience to the city.

The restaurant is led by Shenandoah Valley native Ethan Herman and his parents and business partners, Amy and Lester Herman. The family has worked to preserve the historic character and hospitality of the Victorian-era property while introducing a refreshed restaurant concept.

Executive Chef Tom French, who has been part of the Joshua Wilton House since 2009, leads the kitchen. His menu features classic French techniques and locally sourced ingredients, including Wagyu frites with au poivre sauce and hand-cut fries.

The restaurant also features an extensive 180-bottle wine list highlighting Virginia wineries as well as selections from more than 20 countries. Wine-pairing dinners and other wine-focused events are planned.

Renovations included a new lounge, updated bar, flooring and furnishings, along with extensive historic preservation work, including restoration of original parquet flooring, glass and Victorian-era details.

The property’s five-room boutique hotel will remain open, with each room featuring a private bathroom. Guests will also have the option to add dinner and wine packages to their stays.

Table 1888 serves dinner Thursday through Monday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. and brunch Friday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Beginning in September, the restaurant plans to offer a late-night bar menu until 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
