AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Augusta County Public Schools (ACPS) announced the appointment of Tammy Chambers as Principal of Buffalo Gap Middle School effective July 1, 2026. According to ACPS officials, Chambers brings twenty-six years of teaching and administrative experiences to her new role.
Chambers began her career in education as an English Language Arts Teacher in Fairfax County Schools. She would later work for Sylvan Learning Center for several years before returning to the English classroom – this time in Augusta County. Most recently, Chambers has served as the Assistant Principal of Stuarts Draft Middle School over the last four years.
A graduate of Parry McCluer High School, Mrs. Chambers earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Mary Washington. She completed her teacher licensure program through George Mason University and would later earn her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from James Madison University.
“Mrs. Chambers is student-centered and instructionally focused. She shows initiative and resourcefulness through the time and energy she commits to working alongside her staff and building positive relationships with students and parents. She effectively manages the multiple facets of school administration, sets high expectations, and prioritizes data analysis to meet the diverse needs of students. She is motivated and excited to serve as the next principal of Buffalo Gap Middle School,” says Dr. Kelly Troxell, Division Superintendent in a release.
