STRASBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — A suspect has been identified in last week’s incident involving a report of a suspicious package located at a car wash in Strasburg.

The Shenandoah County Department of Fire and Rescue reports that Christopher Todd Miller has received three charges including:

18.2-83 –Threats to bomb, damage; false information as to danger to such buildings

18.2-85 – Manufacture, possession, use, etc., of firebombs or explosive materials or devices, Hoax Bomb

18.2-46.6 – Possession, mfg., distribution, etc., of weapon of terrorism or hoax device

Miller was previously identified as a wanted man by the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office days before the incident.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Strasburg Police Department reports that earlier this morning, authorities received a report of a suspicious package located at car wash on 189 East Washington Street.

Officers responded to the scene and confirmed the presence of the suspicious package.

Out of an abundance of caution, a safety perimeter was immediately established, and residents in the immediate vicinity were asked to evacuate while emergency personnel conducted their investigation.

The Virginia State Police Bomb Unit examined the package and determined the device to be non-explosive.

The roadway has since been reopened, and the area has been cleared.

The investigation is ongoing.
