NEW ORLEANS (JMU Athletics) – James Madison senior Václav Tichý was named Third Team All-Sun Belt Conference on Tuesday afternoon, as the Sun Belt Conference rolled out its 2025-26 postseason awards.
Tichý finished the 2025-26 season with a team-leading 71.63 stroke average in 30 rounds, ranking among the conference leaders.
The native of Prague, Czech Republic, accrued six top-25 finishes and four top-10 placements, including a season-best tie for fourth at the Sam Ryder Intercollegiate. Tichý had 15 rounds at par or better, including five rounds in the 60s. His season-low round came at the JT Poston Invitational, where he recorded a five-under 65.
Tichý leaves JMU as one of the most decorated golfers in program history, as he is tied for the program record in eagles (12) while ranking third in career stroke average (72.41), fourth in par or better rounds (50), fourth in rounds played (122), and fourth in birdies (399).
He also holds the single-round low score for JMU in program history, carding an eight-under 62 in the second round of the JT Poston Intercollegiate in the 2024-25 season. Tichý ended his career with 20 top-25 finishes, 13 in the top 10, and eight inside the top five.
