AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Saturday is National Drug Take Back Day and law enforcement agencies throughout the valley are participating, including the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Lieutenant Leslie Snyder explains the purpose of the event.
“It just gives everyone an opportunity that has old prescription meds in their cabinets or if someone has passed away and there’s old medication laying around, they can bring it to the Sheriff’s Office on Saturday,” said Snyder. “We do not accept sharps, so any kind of needles anything like that we would be unable to take.”
That will be from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the sheriff’s office on Route 11 in Verona.
Meanwhile, the Harrisonburg Police Department is also participating from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Kroger on East Market Street.
And the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s will collect unwanted drugs from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at CVS in Woodstock.
