Flags will fly at half-staff across the commonwealth today, 22 years after the Twin Towers went down.
Governor Glenn Youngkin has ordered that all U-S and Virginia flags be lowered to half-staff “in solemn memory” of the nearly three-thousand people who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001.
The order also recognizes the “heroes who sacrificed their lives for the rescue mission and in defense of the American principles of freedom, justice, and individual liberty.”
Flags on the grounds of all federal, state and local buildings will remain lowered from sunrise through sunset.
