Labor Day weekend may traditionally signal an end to the summer season, but it certainly does not mean an end to the need for Virginians to still make traffic safety a priority.

Virginia State Police will enact Operation C-A-R-E, which stands for Crash Awareness Reduction Effort.

Spokesperson Corinne Geller says while law enforcement wants people to have a good time this weekend, plan ahead for their travel.

During last year’s Labor Day weekend, 12 people died on Virginia roads.

The CARE weekend runs through midnight Monday.
