HARRISONBURG, Va – A brand-new building unveiled for Harrisonburg Public Works will also include generous space for the city’s police and fire services.

City officials broke ground Thursday morning on what will be a nearly 24-thousand-square-foot structure.

The new facility on East Mosby Road will bring all public works offices together under one roof.

Harrisonburg fire chief Matt Tobia says bringing public works and public service together as one is a nice change of pace.

The $8 million structure will also house a new substation and equipment garage for police department and a 140-seat training classroom for firefighters.
