ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Rockingham County School Board Chairwoman Sara Horst made a public statement during last night’s meeting disapproving Board member Matt Cross’ Facebook post showing two recent fights that took place in Harrisonburg City Schools.

Cross posted two videos of the student altercations stating that, “when your school division is run by a woke school board and superintendent, you end up with schools where students and teachers are not safe.”

Horst said in the statement that the posts included employee information and the sharing of inappropriate and harmful content involving students from a neighboring school division.

“Such actions are unacceptable, unprofessional and inconsistent with standards of conduct expected of a member of a school board,” said Horst. “As elected officials we are entrusted with maintaining the privacy, dignity and trust of our employees, students and community members. The behavior displayed through these posts represents a serious lapse in judgement and a violation of that trust.”

Horst continued by saying that the school board takes these matters seriously.

Harrisonburg City Public Schools addressed the posts on their social media page saying the school division is deeply troubled that an adult in the community chose to post online videos of recent student altercations. The decision was irresponsible, reckless and harmful to the students involved.
