GREENVILLE, Va. — Augusta County authorities are investigating after a New Market man drowned while swimming at a popular resort over the weekend.

In a release, Sheriff Donald Smith said deputies responded to Stoney Creek Resort in Greenville around 7 o’clock Saturday evening for a reported drowning.

Crews from Augusta County were aided by rescue teams from Stuarts Draft, Riverheads and Staunton, and later, a Virginia State Police dive team in recovering the body of 20-year-old Dakota Marcus Fulk, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Smith said no foul play is suspected.

Fulk’s remains have been sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Manassas for examination.
