HARRISONBURG, Va. – Harrisonburg Public Works is inviting the Friendly City to a groundbreaking ceremony next Thursday morning for what will be a brand-new, nearly 24-thousand-square-foot building.
City leadership will reveal details about the project, including the price tag, during the public event set for 11 o’clock at 320 East Mosby Road.
In a release, public works spokesperson Brittany Clem-Hott said the new facility will move operational and administrative offices from across the city under one roof, which will allow the department to work more efficiently.
She says the building will also house a training classroom for Harrisonburg Fire, and a substation with equipment storage areas for city police.
Additionally, it will include solar panels capable of producing 100 kilowatts of energy, and four electric charging stations for city fleet vehicles.
