RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia State Police is part of a national effort this long holiday weekend to reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities on the roads.
Operation Crash Awareness Reduction Effort, or C.A.R.E., begins today. In a release, State Police spokesperson Corrine Geller said that it’s all hands on deck this Memorial Day, as all available troopers will be on patrol throughout the weekend.
She said these extra troopers will keep an eye out for impaired driving, speeding and folks who aren’t wearing seat belts.
The enhanced enforcement will continue through midnight on Monday.
