FOREST, Va. – On Tuesday, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its end-of-season awards for the softball season. A pair of Royals earned All-ODAC honors as Samantha Hensley was named first-team at first base and Becca Boone brought home third-team designated player.
Hensley, a junior from Elkton, Va., was in her second season for the Royals since transferring from Bridgewater before the 2021-22 season. This year she led EMU with a .394 average, which was seventh best in the conference. She had an on-base percentage of .432 which was ninth in the ODAC and slugged .633, which was the conference’s second-best percentage. Hensley had at least one hit in 27 of the Royals 34 games, and multiple hits in 13 games.
She led the Royals, and the ODAC, in doubles with 14, and was tied for ninth in homeruns with four. She drove in 34 runs on the season, which was the fourth most in the conference. In the field, she had a .995 fielding percentage at first base, committing just one error in 205 total chances.
Boone finds herself on this list for the second straight season, earning All-ODAC honors as a catcher in 2022. This season saw her second on the squad, hitting .310, predominantly from the designated player position. She was tied for third on the team with 31 hits and 11 RBI. She hit .333 in ODAC play with an on-base percentage of .377. She had hits in 20 games this year, including a 4-4, with 4 RBI performance against Salem on March 5.
