HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Salvation Army of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County’s Food Pantry is at a critically low level.
Officials say an appeal went out on The Salvation Army Facebook page about the need several days ago and yesterday the need for food donations to stock the food pantry went from low to critically low.
According to Lt. Douglas Ingold, the food pantry needs are increasing and as a result of that, the food pantry is not just low but completely out of staple products.
“We try to keep a number of staple items we need to have for our food pantry and currently we are not just running low, but we are out of those items. If any individual, business, church or group would be able to help it would be greatly appreciated by those serve,” Ingold said.
The Salvation Army is in need of the following staple items:
- Cereal/oatmeal
- Pancake mix/syrup
- Rice/dried beans
- Spaghetti/sauce
- Peanut Butter/jelly
- Soup/crackers
- Fruit
- Macaroni noodles
- Mac and cheese
- Mashed potatoes
- Stuffing
- Canned pasta
- Canned veggies and potatoes
- Canned chili with beans
- Knorr Sides
- Juice
