HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – The City of Harrisonburg is seeking proposals from individuals, organizations and businesses that could utilize 301 S. Main St. – the former home of the Virginia Quilt Museum.
The city owns the 0.22-acre parcel, located in Downtown and adjacent to Asbury Methodist Church. When the Virginia Quilt Museum relocated operations to Dayton earlier this year, City staff began looking at how to ensure the two-story house is preserved while complementing and enhancing the experiences of those visiting Downtown and the wider Harrisonburg community. The City is interested in conveying the property and will consider both purchase offers and proposals for conveyance at no cost, depending on the proposal.
A request for proposals document is posted online at https://harrisonburgva.gov/bids-proposals where interested parties can learn more about how to submit their proposal and the required elements of any submission.
“This is a unique opportunity to take a building key to the history of our community and ensure it continues to contribute to everything that makes our Downtown a wonderful place to visit, work or live,” Harrisonburg Assistant to the City Manager Brian Vandenberg, who is overseeing the request for proposals process, said. “We are excited to see the creativity and new ideas people have for how this important space can be rejuvenated.”
Proposals must be submitted by October 14.
