SAN MARCOS, Texas – James Madison softball lost its first game of the Texas State series 2-0 on Thursday evening.
The Dukes fell to 27-17 with a 12-10 mark in Sun Belt play, while Texas State improved to 32-21-1, sitting at 12-8-1 in league competition.
Freshman Kylah Berry noted four innings in the circle for JMU. She tallied one strikeout, two walks, and yielded four hits.
Sophomore Jasmine Hall recorded the Dukes’ only hit of the night.
How It Happened:
• JJ Smith scored Texas State’s first run in the bottom of the first inning from a single to center field.
• Smith also brought in the Bobcat’s final run with an RBI single down the left side in the bottom of the sixth inning.
