HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Whether its fireworks, food, live music, or just hanging out, there are plenty of events to go to for the July 4th weekend. Below are the ones you don’t want to miss to celebrate Independence Day in the Shenandoah Valley.

Massanutten Summer Jam – Thursday July 3, 5-10pm

The event will feature live music, kids’ activities, beer & wine, food trucks, plus one of the largest fireworks show in the area around 10 pm. Advance tickets are $30.
Live music will feature Fleetwood Macked, The Judy Chops, and Mojo Parker.
Food Vendors: Base Camp, K’s Grill, Big Fat Daddy’s, Bayou Kitchen, and Kona Ice.

Happy Birthday America in Staunton July 3-4

Happy Birthday America is full of events for the whole family including a parade at 10am, food, vendors, and carnival beginning at noon, live music starting at 2pm, and fireworks at 10pm. The event is free and open to all ages.

Gypsy Hill Park Firecracker 5k July 3, 7:30am

Along with a parade and live music, Happy Birthday America will also be hosting a Firecracker 5k. The race begins at 7:30am at Gypsy Hill Park. Registration is available online for $30.

No Bull…Just Bluegrass Festival July 4-5

Enjoy two full days of nothing but Bluegrass music at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds. Bands include Lonesome River Band, Junior Sisk, and Nothin’ Fancy. Tickets are still available here.

Harrisonburg Fireworks July 5, 9pm

Valley 4th Run in Harrisonburg July 4, 8am

The Valley 4th RUN is home to the Slip ‘n Slide Finish Line and the only chip timed race in the Shenandoah Valley that lets you pick your distance (1.5 mile, 5K, or 10K). Registration is available until July 3.

Red, White, and Brew in Broadway July 5, 5-9pm

Located at Heritage Park in Broadway, listen to Nashville Recording Artist Corey Hager and Shane Click perform live and enjoy brews from Blue Ridge Beverage and wine from Showalter’s. Food vendors will also be available. Admission is $10 and Drink tickets are $5.

4th of July Downtown Get Down in Luray July 4, 12-9pm

Lawn games, duck races, food vendors, and fireworks galore will be in Downtown Luray on July 4. Big City Band and Earls of Kent will be performing starting at 6pm.

Independence Day Celebration at Frontier Culture Museum July 5, 9a-5p

Starting at 9 am and lasting all day, the pay-what-you-will Independence Day celebration will have apple pie making, games of all kinds, an audience participation required 19th century Civics Bee, and of course, a reading of the Declaration of Independence!
