WEYERS CAVE, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Weyers Cave Fire Company’s annual Lawn Party begins tonight, Wednesday, June 4, 2025. The entire event lasts from June 4 to June 7 located behind the Weyers Cave Fire Company, 1235 Keezletown Road, Weyers Cave, VA.
According to Chief Alan Wampler, it is the biggest fundraiser of the year.
“Although Mother Nature will tell us if we’re going to have a good night or not,” said Wampler. “Even if we sell food and we sell out, then it helps us in the end because that’s a cause we’ve put up front.”
Some activities include games, food, live music and carnival rides.
Food will start being served at 4:00 p.m. every night and Bingo will start around 6:30-7 p.m. each night.
Here is the list of the bands each night:
- June 4: Jack and Davis Reid
- June 5: New West
- June 6: Broken Angel
- June 7: The Skillbilly’s
On Friday, June 6, the fireman’s parade will start at 7:00 p.m.
“It runs from Houff Transfer and it comes up Houff Road to Keezletown Road and will come right in front of where the fire station is located,” said Wampler. “And the parade ends up back here at the softball field right at the Lawn Party grounds.”
The Shenandoah Valley Tractor Pullers will make an appearance on Saturday, June 7 and will hold two pulls starting at 11:00 a.m. and the second at 4:00 p.m.
There will also be a cash raffle announced on Saturday with the first drawing at 7:30 p.m.
“So, with that is five $500 winners, three $1,000 winners, a $1,500 winner, a $3,000 winner and a $5,000 winner to be raffled off at 10 0’clock,” said Wampler. “You do not have to be present to win and if you win your ticket goes back into the drawing and each ticket is $20.”
Raffle tickets can be purchased now at the station or at the party.
Wampler described how whether firefighters are getting paid or volunteering, the service is still expected to be the same. Volunteers spend time in classes two nights a week and some on the weekends to earn the certifications for the job.
“That’s a lot of time along with running calls and spending time at the station,” said Wampler. “They’re giving their own time up just to be able to help their community.”
