Federal authorities are announcing the largest meth bust in West Virginia history.

30 people were charged yesterday with distributing over 200 pounds of methamphetamine, alongside other drugs and illegal guns in Charleston. The Department of Justice said nearly 750-thousand dollars were seized during the operation as well.

F-B-I special agent in charge Mike Norwall said the arrests were the result of an eight-month investigation. According to DOJ, the bust also removed 28 pounds of cocaine, 20 pounds of fentanyl and 18 firearms from Mountain State streets.

U-S attorney Will Thompson added that over 250 law enforcement officers were involved in the takedown. The F-B-I said eight suspects remain at large.
